Truthfulness

Islam has laid much stress on abstaining from falsehood especially from telling a lie. Almighty Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala says:
O you who believe! Be afraid of Allah, and be with those who are true (in words and deeds). (9:119)

Hazrat Sayyiduna Abu Hurayra Radi Allahu anhu reported that the Glorious Prophet of Islam Hazrat Salla Allahu 'alayhi wa Sallam said: Whoever does not give up false statements (i.e. telling lies), and evil deeds, and speaking bad words to others, Allah is not in need of his (fasting) leaving his food and drink. (Bukhari).

Hazrat Sayyiduna Anas Radi Allahu anhu reported that Sayyiduna Rasulallah Salla Allahu 'alayhi wa Sallam said: If a person abstains from false talks, a house is built for him on the edge of Paradise and if a person gives up fighting, even if he is on a right stand, a house is built for him in the middle of Paradise and if a person cherishes good conduct, a house is built for him in the highest portion of Paradise. (Tirmidi)
